CONSUMMATE HATER EP - RIGANO
Updated: Jun 9
I haven't felt the way I feel about Rigano's work since I first heard Riverside's Herbalistics.
It not only is high level hip-hop but it's arty energetic work from I.E. kids, it's fucking catnip for the kind of nerd I am.
The production ranges from spooky to very melodic, some songs are crisp clean nu-trap while some are adult swim style lo-fi loop jams and garage rap. It took me months to fully get just how great the written structure and pocket on the early release single "Woop Woop" is; "Cherryblossom" is another beautiful, satisfying standout single. Rigano plays with language in a way that makes me feel like he's still holding back even as he flips track after track smoothly and ably. He's gonna make us follow his journey to get the whole story but he's already pretty impeccable and his friends on the features and beats are mad nice too tbh. Limericky and raspy, tough yet wide-eyed, and most importantly inspired music from the IE's next generation lies within.
