HOUSE – LUPE FIASCO / KAELIN ELLIS
This EP is awesome for me because it has new Lupe verses over sick beats. It’s modern and topical. I don’t care for the philosopher droning on throughout the album (more or less instead of choruses, which is a choice I think I feel neutral about) but more because it’s cliché than it actually being annoying. On the single, "Shoes" it makes more sense.
The concepts on songs like “Dinosaurs”, “Shoes and “Models” are fun while also being thoughtful- a classic Lupe mixture. Combined with Abloh talking about the design of the Ahmaud Arbery shoe, the project is a really intelligent vignette discussing and critiquing late capitalism. The beats here are damned musical and enjoyable- check out this worthwhile and smart EP.
