KASAI TAPE 3 – JAY KASAI
Updated: Nov 5, 2019
Kasai Tape 3 is beautiful and deft like mostly all OE releases. Kasai is poetic and introspective and his ear for beats and collabs is at 11. Leotus, Nabeyin, OE and their orbit are on point and then some. These beats toggle between the hardest of drums to the R&B-est of guitars, I let the movie wash over me. Osaki & Gray’s cover art is a wonderful touch; Archer’s verse is a page from inside voices and I mean that in the best way.
Christine Ariya’s vocal contributions are lovely. The Daylyt collab single is subtle and soothing like a babbling brook and I was not expecting that- at all.
Kasai masters his voice, doggedly chases his concept and muse, and the album is a wonderful soundtrack to sunny fall mornings like the ones we’re experiencing now in Cali.
More coverage from me on Kasai Tape 3 likely.
