THE MATTER – DOPAMINE RUSH

I like that Dopamine Rush is having fun with words and vocab; I’m biased towards this kind of content tbh. His music is throwback east coast in style for me – it reminds me of the Lox and Peter Gunz. His beat choices are solid AF; I like the concepts on songs like “Black Will Hunting”.
“Fast Mood” is some post Wu-Tang, thinking in the Dojo lyrical workout shit. I love it. The drums are earthy, the chorus is introspective, the outro speech sample is thought-provoking and the instrumental solo from Paul Wilson aka Incognegro is delicious. “Staunch Candidate” is a rowdy posse cut full of features, funny samples and raucous syncopation.
Rush sounds like he’s careful, he maintains a level of calm respectability in his MC persona; “Reasonable Doubts” luxury rap vibes for real, check out this thoughtful language-loving record when you have a moment.
